“Another lesson you should learn, if you hope to sit beside my son. Be gentle on a night like this and you’ll have treasons popping up all about you like mushrooms after a hard rain. The only way to keep your people loyal is to make certain they fear you more than they do the enemy.”
“I will remember, Your Grace,” said Sansa, though she had always heard that love was a surer route to the people’s loyalty than fear. If I am ever a queen, I’ll make them love me.

But this episode was about Sansa.
For the majority of this season, many of us have agreed that HBO was not doing justice to Sansa’s arc, which is one of the most prominent and important. There are still aspects of this episode I’m not entirely pleased with, but this episode was about Sansa. To me it was. It perfectly showcases why this girl, this thirteen year old girl who learns to feighn love and respect, who is constantly surrounded by ‘lions’, who has lost so much in so little time, is more than adequate at playing the game of thrones.
The scene where the women start going into a panic and she just utterly takes charge. She stuttered here and there, she’s not too experienced with this, but she takes charge. She attempts successfully to calm them all down, even though she’s scared herself. This is the same young girl we saw at the beginning, who was sheltered and naive and not at all aware of her political surroundings. She has just grown so much. She’s still learning, but she is playing the game. And she is going to live.
I was pretty sure GRRM would not let me down, and he didn’t for the most part. This episode was like one huge love letter to Sansa fans, and I’m ecstatic right now.
…..
ALSO THIS EPISODE WAS ONE BIG “FUCK YOU” TO BASIC HATERS.
